Job Description – Silverton Public Works

Water and Wastewater System Operator

Position Title: Water and Wastewater System Operator

FLSA Classification: Non-exempt

Supervisor: Public Works Director

Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervises Public Works Employees during water and wastewater system operations.

Duties:

General: Water and wastewater system operations and maintenance including performance of all tasks required to operate, maintain and repair the water treatment plant, wastewater treatment plant, distribution and collections systems.

Management: Performs all duties associated with the management of the Town’s water and sewer systems including compliance sampling, recordkeeping, lab testing, reporting, and permit management as required by State and Federal laws.

Maintenance: Conduct physical labor and operate heavy equipment and tools required to maintain the water and sewer system.

Supervision: Supervise other Public Works employees as needed to accomplish projects within the system.

Advisory: Advise and assist the Public Works Director on short- and long-term water and sewer system planning, budget planning, capital improvement project management and project funding planning.

Other Duties: Operate heavy equipment and dump trucks as a back-up plow operator and snow hauler. Other duties as assigned to facilitate the operation of the water and sewer systems and Public Works Department.

Qualifications and Job Requirements:

High school diploma or GED Certificate. A bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field is preferred.

Five years of experience working in water and wastewater treatment, distribution and collections or a related field is preferred.

Possess intermediate to advanced computer skills.

Motivation and ability to acquire the water and wastewater certifications needed to operate the Town’s systems within a reasonable time from the date of employment, and as needed take responsibility as the Operator in Responsible Charge for those systems.

Motivation and ability to obtain a CDL to assist with local materials hauling.

Work holidays, weekends and overtime as needed to make critical system repairs, respond to emergencies and conduct water and sewer plant checks (scheduled intermittently with other Public Works employees).

Physically capable of doing physical labor; climbing ladders in and out of trenches, manholes and other confined areas; operating trucks, equipment and tools; and ability to lift, transport and maneuver up to 70 pound loads.

Salary Range - $21.15/ hour - $27.98/ hour

Job Description

Ski Tow Operator

Job Classification: Grade 1 

FSLA Classification: Non-Exempt 

Supervisor: FPR Manager/ Director 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None 

Part-Time Seasonal Position

Duties:

  • Provides physical labor and operates hand and power tools, mechanical ski tow facilities, and snow grooming and snow removal equipment in operating the Kendall Mountain Ski Area.
  • Other Duties and Responsibilities: Carries out other duties and responsibilities as assigned or necessary for the proper conduct of all ski area and ski area support operations. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED Certification.
  • Ability to work effectively, efficiently, and responsibly with elected/ appointed officials, employees, and the general public.
  • Ability to receive and implement specialized instructions concerning the safe and proper operation of ski tow facilities and related ski run operations.
  • Ability to access all properties, buildings, and facilities of the Town; to access and operate trucks, grades, loaders, backhoes, snowmobiles, and other equipment; to climb in and out of trenches, manholes, and other confined work areas; to climb ladders, stairs, and steep, snow covered, uneven terrane; and to lift, maneuver, and transport loads weighing up to 70 pounds. 

Pay range: $18.00-$23.81
